COVID 19 Vaccine

UPDATED: 26th February 2021

We now have a confirmed delivery of COVID vaccines & will be holding an immunisation clinic on Friday 5th March. We are starting to call Group 6. Please do not call us, we will contact you when it is your turn.

Please note:
We are being inundated with individual queries from patients about Covid vaccinations and vaccination priority groups, and this is taking a large amount of administrative time. Please can we kindly ask that you refer to our website for information about vaccinations and read the below information and only email us back if you feel your question is not covered, making this clear in your email.
We will aim to keep you notified here of when our next delivery is expected and which vaccination group we will be calling in next. For more information about the order of priority for vaccinations please see
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-care-home-and-healthcare-settings-posters/covid-19-vaccination-first-phase-priority-groups#fnref:1

For more detail regarding the long term medical conditions that are included in the group 6 ‘at-risk’ group please see the below link. Of note, for asthmatics it is only those who require continuous or repeated use of oral steroids or with previous exacerbations requiring hospital admission who are eligible in the group 6 cohort. All other asthmatics will be vaccinated according to their age group.

Please note that Covid vaccination priority groups are strictly determined by clinical history. The computer searches pick up relevant information in your medication record including age, medication, and medical conditions to determine your grouping. Please do not contact us about your group unless you feel we are unaware of a medical diagnosis you may have, or medication you are taking, that may affect your vaccination priority group. If you are a health or social care worker, and do not believe this is coded in your notes, please email us, attaching current proof of your current place of work / voluntary organisation. Please note informal carers e.g. family members, will be called in with group 6 if you are an adult carer either in receipt of a carer’s allowance, or who is the MAIN carer of an elderly or disabled person, whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill, and you are NOT on our carer’s register, please contact the surgery and ask to speak to our social prescriber Jane Quince (Monday-Thursday).

SOUTHMEAD SURGERY - Although the door is locked, we have remained open throughout the year and will continue to do so.

It is with regret that we have to publish the statement below:

Southmead Surgery is committed to doing everything possible to protect staff, patients and visitors from unacceptable behaviour, and has a 'zero tolerance' attitude of any incident that causes hurt, alarm, or distress.

Our practice staff are here to help you. Shouting or swearing or use of abusive or offensive language at practice staff will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Patients who are abusive will be removed from the practice list and will have to register with another GP Practice.

Furthermore, the practice will not hesitate to take legal action or inform the police whenever it is appropriate to do so.

The whole of the NHS, and especially GP surgeries are working under unprecedented levels of patient demand and expectation. We hope that patients will agree that our staff are our most valuable asset, and that verbal abuse or aggression is unacceptable.

Thank you very much in anticipation of your understanding.

Our Online Patient Triage system is now live!

Please click here to access the service.
